INVITATION TO OFFICERS’ CLUB  MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS BATTLE OF PASSCHENDAELE COMMEMORATION LUNCH The Auckland Officers’ Club in conjunction with The Northern Club is hosting a lunch to follow on from The Battle of Passchendaele Commemorative Ceremony. All Members and their friends are warmly invited to attend. The Hon. Ron Mark, Minister of Defence, will be the honoured guest speaker. He will speak on developments within the NZDF. DATE         Saturday 12th October 2019 TIME         1.00 pm COST         $45.00 pp. This includes a set main course, petit fours, coffee or tea, and two glasses of either house wine, NZ beer or soft drink). Please advise any dietary requirements.                                        DRESS       Serving Officers: Uniform, Medals and Decorations; Members: Suit, Medals and Decorations. RSVP         To The Northern Club (phone 09 379 4755 or email office@northernclub.co.nz) by Thursday 10th Oct.                                Prior to the luncheon, you are invited to attend the Official Commemoration Ceremony of this battle, to be held at the Auckland War Memorial Museum in the World War 1 Hall of Memories at 11.00 am. The Hon. Ron Mark, Minister of Defence will be the honoured guest speaker. Auckland Choral, the Royal NZ Navy Band and 3/6 Battalion, will be participating in this Service. President Capt Lindy Esslemont will be laying a wreath on behalf of The Officers’ Club. Why not make a really great day of it and attend both events. The Base Commander Auckland and Commanding Officer 40 Squadron would like to invite members of the Officers’ Club to visit the Base and SQN on Tuesday, 20 August 2019. We will arrive at the Main Gate no later than 1625h. We will then proceed onto Base where the CO 40 SQN will provide an introductory brief followed by a walkthrough of the Boeing B-757 and C-130H aircraft hosted by SQN personnel. This will be followed by a Meet and Greet in the Officers’ Mess from approx. 1730h until about 1900h. If interested, please reply ASAP to beryl.oldham@gmail.com – we need to know names and numbers ASAP so we can: supply a list of names to the Base no later than August 16th. arrange transport to the Base to and from the Northern Club. (Please note: Bus will leave Northern Club no later than 1545h.) Those of you making your own way to the Base, please make sure you are there in plenty of time to join the bus when it arrives, as the bus will be our transport on and around the Base. Please note you will need to bring with you photo ID (such as your driving licence or passport) to enter the base.

TRI SERVICE COCKTAIL PARTY - WEDNESDAY 29TH MAY Invitations have been sent out to all three services and we are looking forward to a good attendance at this event which is always well subscribed and very successful.  We would appreciate it if you could indicate your attendance as soon as possible and latest by the 19th May.  We need to ensure that we have a good host/guest ratio.  We have invited over 120 service guests.   The invitation is to our service guests and to members and their partners only.  I have in the past been asked if other guests can be invited. The intention of this evening is to reciprocate the hospitality we receive from the three services and to promote the Club to increase our membership.  The event is fully subsidised from our funds. Battle of Cassino 75th Anniversary Formal Dinner - Friday 17 May at 1900 Email office@northernclub.co.nz or phone 09 379 4755 to book. 75 years ago, the Battle of Cassino was one of the most brutal and costly battles involving New Zealand forces in the Second World War. The NZ Division under Lt General Bernard Freyberg mounted two unsuccessful attacks against the 500m high Monte Cassino and its historic 6th Century Benedictine Abbey. The NZ Division had 343 killed, over 1211 wounded and 42 captured. Enjoy a traditional formal Mess Dinner while supporting this significant occasion and honour the status it merits. Guests will be piped to their tables and port wine will be served for the Loyal Toast. Rear Admiral James Gilmour, Commander Joint Forces, NZDF, will address the gathering. $99pp includes a pre-dinner drink, canapés, three-course dinner, wine & a glass of port Dress: Mess Kit/Black Tie with Medals

Dear Fellow Members of the Officers'Club, This special invitation is to encourage even greater support by members of the Officers’ Club, at the St Andrew’s Day dinner, and be seen by our fellow members of the Northern Club as being staunch and supportive of these joint initiatives. Friday 30th November 2018, at 1900 hours The Northern Club invites Members and their Guests to an evening’s celebration of traditional food, music and dances of Scotland to honour Scotland’s patron Saint Andrew. The evening’s events will proceed under the direction of our Master of Ceremonies, Officers' Club member Mr Ken Young The Haggis will be piped in by Piper Andrew Wilkie, and addressed in traditional manner by Mr Bob Campbell. The Haggis will be toasted with Scotch Whisky, after which a dinner of traditional fare will be served. We will be entertained with Highland Dancing under the direction of Pam Fleming, member of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand. There will be prizes given for the Laird and Lady adjudged to be most appropriately turned out, during the course of the evening.
